Study the two pictures. In 1.5 minutes be ready to compare and contrast them:

• give a brief description of the pictures (action, location)
• say what the pictures have in common
• say in what way the pictures are different
• say which of the concerts presented in the pictures you’d prefer
• explain why

You will speak for not more than 2 minutes (12–15 sentences). You have to talk continuously.

In the first picture, there is a rock concert on a big stage. A singer is performing in front of a large crowd, and the audience is enjoying the music. In the second picture, there is a classical concert in a concert hall. A musician is playing a piano, and the audience is listening quietly.

Both pictures show live music performances. In both cases, people have come to listen to music and spend their free time. Also, there are performers and an audience in each picture.

However, the concerts are different in many ways. The first concert is loud, energetic and modern, while the second one is calm, formal and traditional. The first performance takes place outdoors on a stage, but the second one is held indoors in a concert hall. The audiences are also different: in the first picture people seem more excited, while in the second picture they are more serious and attentive.

I would prefer the rock concert. I like lively music and a cheerful atmosphere. It seems more exciting and unforgettable to me.
