Study the two photographs. In 1.5 minutes be ready to compare and contrast the photographs:
- give a brief description of the photos (action, location)
- say what the pictures have in common
- say in what ways the pictures are different
- say which of the activities presented in the pictures you’d prefer
- explain why
In the first photo, a group of people is hiking in the mountains. They are walking along a narrow path and enjoying the fresh air and beautiful nature. In the second photo, a man is riding a bicycle in the city. He is wearing sports clothes and moving along a street.
The pictures have something in common: both show outdoor activities and people who are active and healthy. However, they are different in many ways. The first photo shows a group activity in a natural environment, while the second one shows an individual activity in an urban setting. Also, hiking is usually slower and more relaxing, whereas cycling is faster and more dynamic.
I would prefer hiking because I like spending time in nature. It helps me relax, enjoy the scenery and talk to other people. Besides, it is a good way to keep fit.
