Work in groups. Take it in turns to give your opinions on the statements. Give arguments to support your ideas. Use the information from the text.

1. It’s easier to make friends on the Internet.
2. Uploading any personal content on the web is dangerous.
3. Love always requires sacrifice.
4. Friends give you only positive emotions.
5. Virtual friends cannot be called best friends.
6. Having a mobile phone helps maintain friendship.

Here are possible opinions and arguments for the statements:

1. It’s easier to make friends on the Internet. I agree. On the Internet people can communicate with others from different cities and countries, and it is easier to start a conversation online than in real life.
2. Uploading any personal content on the web is dangerous. I agree. Personal photos, addresses, phone numbers, and other private information can be used by strangers in a bad way.
3. Love always requires sacrifice. I partly agree. In a relationship people often have to give up something for each other, but sacrifice should not destroy your own happiness.
4. Friends give you only positive emotions. I disagree. Real friends can support you, but sometimes they may also criticize you or tell you unpleasant truths for your own good.
5. Virtual friends cannot be called best friends. I disagree. A virtual friend can become a best friend if you trust each other, communicate a lot, and know each other well.
6. Having a mobile phone helps maintain friendship. I agree. A mobile phone makes it easy to stay in touch, send messages, call friends, and share news quickly.
