- How do you find out about your rights?
- Do you think young people in Russia in general know about their rights? What can be done to help them learn about them?
Here are possible answers for discussion:
Yes, I do. At school, students have the right to be treated kindly, to ask for help, to be listened to, and to work in a quiet classroom. We also have responsibilities: we should do our best, complete assignments, be on time to school, follow the teachers’ directions, use materials neatly and return them to the correct place, be kind to others, and not bully anyone.
I find out about my rights from teachers, parents, school rules, textbooks, and the Internet. Sometimes we also discuss them in class.
I think many young people in Russia do not know enough about their rights. To help them learn, schools can hold special lessons, class discussions, and meetings with teachers or lawyers. It is also useful to talk about rights at home and in the media.
