Work in small groups. From the point of view of physics, explain why it’s necessary to fasten safety belts when you drive a car.

It’s necessary to fasten safety belts because of inertia. When a car stops suddenly, the passengers’ bodies keep moving forward at the same speed. A seat belt holds the person in place and prevents them from being thrown against the dashboard or through the windscreen. So safety belts help reduce injuries and can save lives.
