Work in pairs. Read these medical jokes to each other. What makes them funny?

“Doctor, please hurry. My son swallowed a razor-blade.”

“Don’t panic, I’m coming immediately. Have you done anything yet?”

“Yeah, I shaved with the electric razor.”

“Doctor, doctor, will I be able to play the violin after the operation?”

“Yes, of course…”

“Great! I never could before!”

The jokes are funny because of the unexpected meaning of the words.

1. In the first joke, swallowed a razor-blade sounds dangerous, but in the end it turns out that the boy only shaved with the electric razor.
2. In the second joke, the doctor thinks the man can already play the violin, but the real joke is that he never could before, so the answer is unexpected.
