Choose one of the quotations and get prepared to give a 2-minute talk on it.
- Say why you chose it. Explain what it means. Give your opinion of it.
“Learning is not a product of schooling but the lifelong attempt to acquire it.” Albert Einstein (1879—1955), Physicist and Nobel laureate
“Me having no education, I had to use my brains.” Bill Shanky (1913—1981), Scottish footballer and manager
“What poor education I have received has been gained in the University of Life.” Horatioo Bottomley (1860—1933), British journalist and financier
“You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.” An old saying
I’d like to choose the quotation by Albert Einstein: “Learning is not a product of schooling but the lifelong attempt to acquire it.”
The reason why I chose this quotation is that I completely agree with it. I think learning does not stop when school is over. We keep learning new things all our lives: at university, at work, and in everyday life.
The message it gets across is that real education is not only about lessons and exams. It is about curiosity, self-development and the desire to know more. A person should always be ready to learn from books, from other people and from personal experience.
In my opinion, this quotation is very true and wise. School gives us a good start, but lifelong learning helps us become better, more successful and more interesting people.
