Russian and British farmers’ markets differ in several ways. In Britain, farmers’ markets are usually smaller, cleaner and more organized. They often sell organic vegetables, fruit, cheese, bread, meat and homemade products. In Russia, farmers’ markets can be bigger and more crowded, and the choice of goods may be wider, including fresh produce, dairy products and sometimes clothes or household items.

The reason is that shopping traditions and market organization are different in the two countries. British markets are often focused on local and eco-friendly food, while Russian markets are more traditional and practical.

They have a lot in common too. In both countries, people go to farmers’ markets to buy fresh products directly from producers, to support local farmers and to find natural food.
