Тема эссе: Some people think that using bicycles in the city centre has many advantages, while others are sure that bicycles should not be allowed in the city centres. Today when ecology is a great issue all over the world, a lot of people think about possible ways to reduce the harmful effects of human civilisation on the earth. One of these is to cut down on using cars in cities and switch to bicycles instead, but some people oppose this idea. Ideally, I would like people to ride bicycles more often for several reasons. Firstly, it is good for both the environment and people’s health, as it eliminates exhaust fumes and promotes physical exercise. Secondly, bicycles are cheaper to produce, which means less energy consumption. Moreover, cycling helps reduce traffic jams. The opposing view is usually that people cannot help using cars as they are much more convenient than bicycles. To begin with, a driver doesn’t dependent on weather like a cyclist. Then, a car can carry several passengers at a time. Finally, driving a car requires less physical efforts than cycling does. All things considered, I would conclude that people should be more aware of the options they have. Это эссе по теме, но в нём есть и удачные, и неудачные места.
Удачные места:
- тема раскрыта с двух сторон: приведены аргументы за и против использования велосипедов в центре города;
- есть вступление, основная часть и вывод;
- использованы связующие слова: Firstly, Secondly, Moreover, To begin with, Finally, All things considered.
Неудачные места:
- есть грамматическая ошибка: doesn’t dependent → doesn’t depend;
- фраза people cannot help using cars звучит не очень удачно по смыслу; лучше сказать people cannot do without cars;
- в выводе мысль сформулирована слишком общо, она не совсем чётко отвечает на вопрос темы.
Это эссе-рассуждение с элементами argumentative essay, то есть сочинение, в котором автор приводит аргументы за и против и делает вывод.
