1. Nationalism is an infantile disease. It is the measles of humanity.
I partly agree with Albert Einstein’s opinion. In my view, nationalism becomes dangerous when people start believing that their nation is better than all the others. Such thinking often leads to prejudice, hatred and even conflicts between countries.
History gives many examples of the terrible results of extreme nationalism. Wars, discrimination and violence have often been caused by the idea that one nation has more rights than another. People begin to judge others not by their character, but by their nationality. This is unfair and harmful.
At the same time, I do not think that loving your own country is bad. It is natural to respect your culture, traditions and language. The problem appears only when patriotism turns into hostility toward foreigners. A person can be proud of his or her country and still respect other nations.
In conclusion, I agree with Einstein to a large extent. Nationalism is dangerous when it divides people, but healthy respect for one’s homeland is not the same as blind nationalism.
