Exams are a necessary part of education, but they are not perfect. On the one hand, they help teachers check how well students have learned the material. On the other hand, exams often make students nervous and do not always show their real knowledge. I think exams should test not only memory, but also the ability to think, analyse and use information in practice. A lot of clever people fail their exams because they are too stressed, tired or simply do not understand the exam format. Some students also know the subject well, but cannot work quickly under time pressure. I would prefer to take my exams in a written form, because it gives me more time to think and organise my answers. Oral exams are also useful, but they are more stressful for many students. In my opinion, the best exam should be fair, clear and not too difficult. It should help students show what they really know.
