E Find pictures of your local market and describe it. Use these questions as a plan.

1. What kind of market is it?
2. What kind of products can usually be bought there?
3. What are the people selling? Is it their own produce?
4. What are the prices of the produce like?
5. What is the quality of the produce like?
6. Do you like buying things at farmers’ markets? Why?/Why not?

Our local market is a small farmers’ market. It is held every weekend in the town centre.

People can usually buy fresh fruit, vegetables, honey, eggs, cheese and homemade bread there. Some sellers also offer flowers and homemade jam.

The people selling these products are mostly local farmers and small producers. In many cases, the goods are their own produce.

The prices are usually a little higher than in supermarkets, but the products are fresh and natural.

The quality of the produce is very good. Everything looks fresh, tasty and healthy.

I like buying things at farmers’ markets because the food is fresh, and I can support local farmers.
