There is some evidence that Britain was not “British” enough for Lisa. First of all, she expected to see a very traditional country, but in reality Britain turned out to be modern and multicultural. In the streets she could hear many different languages, and people from different countries lived and worked there. This made Britain seem less “typically British” than she had imagined. Also, some everyday things, such as food, shops and fashion, were influenced by other cultures, so Lisa may have felt that the country had changed a lot.

However, there is also strong evidence against this statement. Britain still has many things that are truly British: old buildings, red buses, black cabs, tea, pubs, and the royal family. People in Britain also keep many traditions and customs, especially on holidays and special occasions. The English language, British humour, politeness and respect for personal space are still important parts of everyday life. So Britain has not lost its national identity.

In my opinion, Lisa was disappointed because she expected Britain to be exactly as it is shown in books and films. But modern Britain is a mix of old traditions and new influences. That is why it may seem less “British” at first, although in fact it is still a very British country.
