Learning foreign languages in Russian schools
Nowadays, foreign languages play an important role in education, and I believe that Russian schools should make English learning more intensive.
First of all, English is the language of international communication. It is used in business, science, travel and the Internet. If students start learning it earlier and have more lessons a week, they will be able to speak and understand English much better.
Secondly, more intensive learning gives better results. Six hours of English a week would help pupils practise grammar, vocabulary, listening and speaking regularly. As a result, they would feel more confident and would not forget the language so quickly.
Some people think that schoolchildren already have too many lessons and do not need extra English classes. However, I do not agree with this opinion. A good knowledge of English is a useful skill for the future, and it can help young people get a better education and a good job.
To sum up, I think that Russian schools should introduce more English lessons from the first year of primary school. This would make language learning more effective and useful for every student.
