1. Match the names with the examples.

Possible ways of organising vocabulary:

• by topic — words connected with one subject, for example: weather, clothes, food
• by word family — words with the same root, for example: act, action, active
• by collocation — words that often go together, for example: make a decision, take a photo
• by synonym/antonym — words with similar or opposite meaning, for example: big — large, hot — cold
• by situation — words used in one situation, for example: at the doctor’s, at the airport

2. Do you use all of these ways? Why? / Why not?

I use most of these ways because they help me remember words better. I especially like grouping words by topic and collocation, because it is easier to use them in real speech. I do not always use every way, because some methods are more useful for me than others.
