In my opinion, society should treat criminals in another way, not only punish them severely. Of course, serious crimes must be punished, but punishment alone does not always solve the problem.

First, many criminals need help, not just prison. They may have problems with poverty, family, drugs or education. If society helps them, they can change their lives and become useful people again.

Second, rehabilitation is better for society in the long run. When criminals get a chance to study, work and receive psychological support, they are less likely to commit crimes again.

However, dangerous criminals should still be punished strictly to protect other people. So the best solution is a balance: punish crime, but also try to reform the criminal.

Our group’s decision: society should punish criminals, but at the same time it should help them change and return to normal life.
