Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each holiday package. Then decide which package would best suit the class. Use the class survey in A for information about the class preferences.
Package 1: whitewater rafting, hiking, bungee jumping, tennis
Package 2: kitesurfing, windsurfing, wave jumping, beach volleyball
Package 3: hiking, skiing, snowboarding, ice hockey
Remember to:
- discuss all options;
- be polite;
- take an active part in the conversation;
- come up with ideas;
- give good reasons;
- find out your friend’s attitudes and take them into account;
- invite your friend to come up with suggestions;
- come to an agreement.
- E. Work in pairs. Take turns to give your opinion on the statements below. Interrupt your partner after 30 seconds using the Language chunks. Remember to acknowledge interruption.
- Everyone should find the time to play sport.
- It is important to have leisure time.
- Students today have very little free time.
- Playing board games is better for children than playing computer games.
- F 31. Look at the following words and decide which syllable carries the main stress. Then listen and check.
- G. Practise saying the words. Pay special attention to the unstressed syllables.

Possible discussion:
Student 1: I think Package 3 is the best choice because it includes hiking and snow sports.
Student 2: I agree, but Package 1 also has hiking and tennis.
Student 1: Yes, but bungee jumping may not suit everyone.
Student 2: That’s true. Package 2 has only water sports, and not many students chose them in the survey.
Student 1: So, Package 3 seems the most suitable for the class.
