You have decided to enter a short story competition. The competition rules say you must write a story of between 120 and 180 words with the title ‘My mysterious experience’.

Direct speech
HELPFUL HINTS
Including some direct speech in your story is a way to bring your story to life. It makes your characters more real’ and helps add drama. However, don’t include too much direct speech — don’t forget that you’re writing a story, not a dialogue!
