The power of Feng shui
Is there a room in your home that everyone likes to spend a lot of time in? What about a space that no one seems to use very much? Are you finding it (1) difficult to sleep at night? These questions can easily be answered using the art and science of ancient Chinese Feng shui (pronounced [fan’fwer]. Feng shui, which literally means the wind and the water, teaches us how to create harmony and balance around us by making changes in our work and (2) living spaces. By arranging our furniture and decor in a way that aligns with nature, we draw harmony and good health into our lives. According to this ancient philosophy, the placement of everything from the front door to the toilet can affect our overall well-being. The Chinese believe in this philosophy so (3) strongly that they employ a Feng shui master before building or buying a home.
Here is a story to illustrate its power. A few years (4) ago Ken Taylor bought a luxurious apartment that had a large light-filled bedroom. After living in the apartment for a few months, he noticed that (5) despite its beauty he was not comfortable in the bedroom and as a result he was not sleeping well. A few weeks later, after learning about Feng shui, he understood why. He needed to rearrange the (6) furniture, including his bed. In Feng shui, it is believed that in order to get a restful sleep, you need to place your bed where you can see the entrance. That’s what Ken did. He also changed the colour of the walls and curtains from dark to light (7) shades. After making these necessary changes, he began sleeping soundly, started feeling happy and comfortable at home, and began to experience more happiness in his life.
