Which inventions that you’ve learned about are invaluable (extremely useful) for you and which are junk (really useless), according to your opinion?
- Work in a group of about five persons. Name three things that you can hardly live without and three things that you can sacrifice without too much reluctance.
- Compare your list with the lists of your classmates. Which things were named most often in the first category? And in the second category?

Sample answer:
Three things I can hardly live without are my smartphone, the Internet and a laptop. I use them every day for communication, study and entertainment.
Three things I can sacrifice without too much reluctance are a TV set, a DVD player and a landline phone. I rarely use them because modern gadgets have replaced them.
In my opinion, the most useful things in our group would probably be smartphones and the Internet. The least useful things would be old-fashioned devices like DVD players and landline phones.
