1) In these situations, you would usually use:
- formal language — when speaking to a stranger, an official, a police officer, a hotel receptionist, or an older person you do not know well;
- neutral language — in everyday polite situations with people you do not know very well;
- informal language — only with friends or people you know well.
2) Possible questions:
- Could you tell me where the nearest bank is, please?
- Excuse me, how can I get to the railway station?
- Would you mind helping me, please?
- Could you show me the way to the museum?
- Can you tell me what time the next bus leaves?
3) Role-play
A: Excuse me, could you tell me where the nearest post office is, please?
B: Yes, of course. Go straight ahead and turn left at the traffic lights.
