Here is a possible 2-minute talk:
The political systems of Russia and the USA have some common features and some important differences. Both countries are republics and both have a president as the head of state. In both political systems, power is divided into three branches: the legislative, the executive and the judicial branches.
In Russia, the legislative branch is represented by the Federal Assembly, which consists of the State Duma and the Federation Council. In the USA, it is represented by Congress, which includes the Senate and the House of Representatives. The judicial branch in both countries is represented by courts.
The executive branch is headed by the President in both countries. In Russia, the President is the head of state and the highest official in the country. In the USA, the President is both the head of state and the head of the executive branch.
The Russian President has more power than the US President because Russia is a presidential republic with a stronger centralised system of government. The President in Russia has a greater influence on all branches of power.
The system of checks and balances is used to make sure that no branch of power becomes too strong. Each branch can control the others, and this helps keep the political system balanced and democratic.
