IN YOUR CULTURE

Most of the rights you have depend on your age and are determined by the law. What age limits are there in your country? Compare them with those in the UK.

In my country, most rights also depend on age and are determined by law.

• You can go to school from the age of 6 or 7.
• You can get a part-time job at 14 or 15.
• You can leave school and work full-time at 16.
• You can get a driving licence at 18.
• You can vote and marry without parental permission at 18.

Compared with the UK, the age limits are quite similar. In both countries, some rights come at 16, while the most important adult rights usually start at 18.
