Dear David,
Russia is a welfare state, because the government provides social support for people in need. The system of social service includes pensions, unemployment benefits, child benefits, disability payments and free medical help for some groups of people.
My family receives child benefits and free medical care. In Russia, people who are entitled to benefits do not always get them easily, because the system can be slow and complicated. One disadvantage is that some people have to wait a long time for documents to be approved.
