Sample role-play
a) Teacher — Parent
Teacher: I’d like to talk about your child’s progress. Unfortunately, his/her marks are rather bad at the moment. We also had an argument recently about wearing earrings and make-up to school. Besides, your child has missed five classes in my subject.
Parent: I’m sorry to hear that. I understand your concerns. I’ll talk to my child about the marks and the missed classes. As for earrings and make-up, I’ll make sure he/she follows the school rules.
b) Parent — Pupil
Parent: The teacher complained about your bad marks, the argument about wearing earrings and make-up to school, and the five classes you missed.
Pupil: I understand. I’m sorry. I’ll try to improve my marks, attend all the classes, and follow the school rules.
