Project Work

A. Prepare a presentation devoted to one of these:

• a composer;
• a performer (singer, dancer, pianist, etc.);
• a conductor;
• a group of musicians (singers, dancers);
• an opera or a ballet;
• one of trends in music.

B. Present this information to the class. Illustrate it with musical fragments, slides and pictures.

For the project work, I prepared a short presentation about Ludwig van Beethoven.

Beethoven was a great German composer and pianist. He was born in 1770 and became one of the most famous composers in the history of music. His works include symphonies, sonatas, concertos and chamber music.

One of his most famous compositions is the Eroica Symphony. At first, Beethoven wanted to dedicate it to Napoleon, because he admired him as a champion of freedom. But later he removed Napoleon’s name when Napoleon declared himself emperor.

Beethoven’s music is powerful, emotional and full of energy. Even when he lost his hearing, he continued to compose. This makes him an example of great talent and strong will.

Beethoven’s music is still performed all over the world today. He remains one of the greatest composers of all time.
