Стр.64 Unit 6 ГДЗ Вербицкая Forward 11 класс
Приведем выдержку из задания из учебника Вербицкая, Камине Д.Карр, Парсонс 11 класс, Просвещение: READING AND LISTENING
1 Read the profile of the kingdom of Bhutan and answer the questions.
• How is Bhutan different from other countries?
• Would you like to visit the country? Why?/ Why not?
Country Profile: Bhutan
The kingdom of Bhutan is a tiny, remote and impoverished country nestling in the Himalayas between its powerful neighbours, India and China. Almost completely cut off for centuries, it only began to open up to outsiders in the 1970s. Its breathtaking scenery and ancient Buddhist culture make it a natural tourist attraction, but tourism is restricted: visitors must travel as part of a pre-arranged package or guided tour.
The king, partly educated in Britain and having travelled abroad, has continued the policy of limited modernisation adopted by his father. He has gone to great lengths to preserve the country’s deep-rooted Buddhist culture and ancient traditions from the rapidly-developing world outside its borders. National dress is compulsory — a robe with a belt, or ‘gho’, for men and a long dress, or ‘kira’, with a short jacket for women.
2 In 1999 the first TV and Internet services were introduced into Bhutan. What effect do you think this had on the country? Discuss in pairs. *Цитирирование части задания со ссылкой на учебник производится исключительно в учебных целях для лучшего понимания разбора решения задания.

1. Bhutan is different from many other countries because it is a tiny, remote kingdom that was almost completely cut off for centuries. It has preserved its ancient Buddhist culture and traditions, and tourism is strictly controlled.
I would like to visit Bhutan because it has beautiful scenery and a unique culture. However, I would need to travel there as part of an organised tour.
2. The introduction of TV and Internet probably had a big effect on Bhutan. It made the country more connected with the outside world and gave people access to new information and entertainment. At the same time, it may have influenced traditional life and made it harder to preserve old customs.
