- Project idea. Work in small groups. Make a poster with English and Russian proverbs about money. Which of them show a similar attitude? Which are very different?
Frank Abagnale was a famous con artist who used many different identities to commit fraud. As a teenager, he began by changing his age and opening a bank account with fake deposit slips. Later, he impersonated a Pan Am pilot, a doctor, a lawyer, a teacher, a stockbroker and even an FBI agent. He forged cheques, earned money illegally and lived on the run for five years.
In the end, he was caught, spent time in prison and then agreed to help the authorities understand fraud and confidence tricks. After his release, he became a consultant and now works to prevent financial crimes. He regrets his past and warns that identity theft is one of the biggest dangers today.
Project idea: English and Russian proverbs about money can be compared to see which ones have a similar meaning and which ones show different attitudes to money.
