Sam: Guess who I saw at the club last night?
Gabby: I don’t know. Kylie Minogue?
Sam: Oh come on, Gabby, be serious. You’ll never believe it! It was Jack’s mum and dad. They were dancing like teenagers — and they must be at least 50!
Gabby: So? What’s wrong with that? I think it’s great!
Sam: Great? I think it’s ridiculous! Clubbing at their age!
Gabby: Oh, I wouldn’t say that, Sam. Look at Mick Jagger and Pink Floyd — and all the other bands from the 70s and 80s. I know they’re called the ‘wrinkly rockers’, but they’re still going strong — and some of them are over 60!
Sam: Yes, but that’s not the point! Jack’s mum and dad aren’t famous musicians!
Gabby: True. But they used to like dancing to Rolling Stones music when they were young — so why shouldn’t they do it now?
Sam: Because clubs are for young people! Who wants to go clubbing with their mum and dad — I certainly don’t!
Gabby: No, neither do I. I’d never thought of that. But I still think everybody’s got the right to go to a club if that’s what they want to do.
Sam: Well, if you ask me, anybody over 25 should be banned!
Gabby: Oh, come on Sam — that’s rubbish! You’re not serious, are you?
Sam: Yes, I am! We all have the right to our opinions. You and I are just not on the same wavelength.
Gabby: You’re telling me!

Mum: Going out, Julie?
Julie: Yes Mum — see you later …
Mum: Hang on — won’t you freeze in that top? I think it’s a bit short.
