Possible short presentation:

People have used many different means of communication in the past. One of them was signalling with mirrors. People reflected sunlight with mirrors to send messages over long distances. This method was especially useful in sunny weather.

Another important invention was the telegraph. It allowed people to send messages quickly using electrical signals and Morse code. The telegraph changed communication and made it much faster than sending letters by post.

These means of communication were very important before the telephone, the internet and mobile phones were invented.
