1 After stop we use the gerund, and after go on we also use the gerund when the action continues.
2 Remember to do means not forgetting to perform an action in the future; forget to do means not doing something because you didn’t remember.
3 remember going refers to a past memory; try calling is used for suggesting an action as a possible solution.
4 stop to buy means stopping in order to do something; try to call is the infinitive after try when we mean making an effort.
5 go on to study means doing one action after another; prefer learning is the gerund after prefer when talking about general preference.
