I agree with this statement. People cannot achieve anything truly new if they are afraid to leave their comfort zone. To discover new opportunities, they need courage, confidence, and a willingness to take risks. If a person always stays “near the shore,” they will never know what they are capable of.

This idea is true not only for путешествия and discoveries, but also for study, work, and personal life. For example, a student may be afraid to speak English in class, but only by trying can he or she improve. In the same way, scientists, writers, and explorers succeed because they are ready to face uncertainty.

So, I think Andre Gide’s words are very wise: without courage, there can be no progress or new discoveries.
