You have received a letter from your English pen-friend, Pete, who writes:
I can’t believe we’ve both finished school now! How do you feel about it? Are you going to have a party to celebrate? What are your plans for next year? My brother, Michael, has just graduated from university and we all went to his graduation ceremony last week …
Write a letter to Pete. In your letter:
- answer his questions;
- ask 3 questions about the graduation ceremony.
Write 100-140 words.
Give a two-minute talk about a person you admire. Remember to say:
- who the person is and what he/she is like;
- what he/she does/has done in life;
- why you admire him/her;
- what you can do to become like him/her.
You have to talk for 1 1/2-2 minutes. Your partner will listen until you have finished. Then he/she will ask you some questions.
Dear Pete,
It’s great to hear from you. I feel a bit strange about finishing school, but mostly excited about the future. Yes, I’m going to have a small party with my friends and family to celebrate. Next year I’m planning to enter university and study business.
Michael’s graduation ceremony sounds interesting. Was it held in a big hall? Did many people come to congratulate him? What did he feel when he received his diploma?

Two-minute talk
I admire my mother most of all. She is a kind, hardworking and very patient person. She works as a doctor and helps people every day. In her life, she has done a lot for our family and for her patients. She always stays calm in difficult situations and never gives up.
I admire her because she is strong, responsible and caring. She teaches me to be honest, polite and hardworking. To become like her, I need to study well, help other people and be more disciplined. I want to be as useful and reliable as she is.
