(THE PREPOSITION)
Предлог — это служебная часть речи, которая служит для связи слов в предложении. В английском языке, в отличие от русского, существительные не изменяются по падежам, поэтому у них отсутствуют падежные окончания. Предлоги играют очень важную роль, являясь средством связи существительного или местоимения с другими словами в предложении.

Классификация предлогов
По своему значению предлоги делятся на следующие основные группы: предлоги места, направления (движения) и времени.
Предлоги места
(Prepositions of place)
Предлоги места показывают расположение предмета, т. е. указывают, где находятся люди, животные или предметы. Предлоги места обычно употребляются после глаголов be, live, work и т. п.
Наиболее распространённые предлоги места:
in — в;
above, over — над;
under — под;
in front of — перед;
on — на;
near — около;
behind — за, сзади;
at — у, на, в;
inside — внутри;
outside — снаружи;
between — между;
next to, by — рядом, около;
opposite — напротив
