Rainforests are very hot and wet. They grow near the equator, where it rains a lot all year round. Rainforests have many tall trees, thick plants and lots of animals. Many birds, monkeys, insects and other animals live there. The trees form a green roof called the canopy, so little sunlight reaches the ground.

I learned that rainforests are home to many different plants and animals, and that they need warm weather and a lot of rain to grow.
