RUSSIAN PEOPLE
Russia is a rich country. It is rich in forests and mountains, rivers and lakes. There are many important cities, factories and industrial plants all over the country. There are a lot of wonderful things in Russia. But it is true to say that Russia is most famous for its people.
Russian people are talented. We can name many of those who are well-known all over the world.
In America and Australia, in Europe and Asia, people read novels by Anton Chekhov, Leo Tolstoy, Feodor Dostoevsky. You can see plays by Chekhov in New York and Paris, in London and Delhi. People on many different continents listen to beautiful music by Peter Tchaikovsky and Michael Glinka.
Russian people have made a lot of discoveries in different fields. People all over the world know the names of Yuri Gagarin and other Russian cosmonauts, as well as the name of Sergei Korolyov.
When foreign guests leave Russia, practically everybody says that Russian people are wonderful. They are open, kind and very hospitable.
