Run a Marathon

If you think it is difficult to run a marathon and only sportsmen can do it, you’re wrong. Thousands of people take part in marathons in many cities: in New York, Paris and London. These people come from different places, they are young and old, they have different jobs. The oldest runner in 1982 was 70. His name was George Brennan. He was from Scotland. He started running when he was 65. He took part in the London Marathon and finished it in four hours. He took part in the Glasgow Marathon too. The weather was very bad that day. It was rainy and windy but George finished the marathon in three hours and forty-five minutes — a wonderful time for a man who was seventy.
