The Far East is situated in the east of Russia, near the Pacific Ocean. It is washed by the Pacific Ocean, the Sea of Okhotsk and the Bering Sea. There are many plants and animals there, for example, taiga forests, bears, tigers and other wild animals. The biggest cities of the Far East are Vladivostok and Khabarovsk. The climate is cold and windy in winter, but rather warm in summer.
Siberia is situated in the east of the Ural Mountains and stretches to the Pacific Ocean. There are many mountains, rivers, lakes and seas there, for example, the Altai Mountains, the Yenisei and the Lena, Lake Baikal and the Kara Sea. Siberian forests are rich in animals such as bears, wolves, foxes and squirrels. The biggest cities of Siberia are Novosibirsk, Omsk and Krasnoyarsk. The climate is very cold in winter and quite warm in summer.
European Russia is the western part of the country and it is the largest and most populated territory. It has many rivers, lakes, seas and forests, for example, the Volga, Lake Ladoga, the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea. The animal world is rich and varied: there are deer, foxes, hares and many birds. Its towns and cities include Moscow, St Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod and many others. This territory is very important for the country because most people live and work here, and many big industrial and cultural centres are located here.
