22 Plan an exciting New Year Party for your family/your class/your friends. Discuss in pairs:
where and when you will give the party
how you will make the place look nice
whom you will invite
what kind of music you will play, what songs you will sing
what food you will prepare, what other guests will cook and bring with them
what you will wear (this may be a costume party)
what nice surprises you will have for your guests
what presents there will be for everyone
Write your plan. Read out your plan to the class. Listen to other students. Whose plan is the best?

We are going to have our New Year party at home on 31 December in the evening. We will decorate the room with a Christmas tree, colourful lights, balloons and paper snowflakes to make it look bright and festive.

We will invite our family and close friends. We will play cheerful New Year music and sing our favourite songs together.

For the party, we will prepare sandwiches, fruit, cakes and sweets. Our guests will bring juice, salad and some snacks. We will wear smart and beautiful clothes, and some of us may wear funny costumes.

We will have a few nice surprises for our guests, such as games, a quiz and a small fireworks show. There will be small presents for everyone, too.
