Guy Fawkes’ Night

Guy Fawkes was an Englishman who became famous for the Gunpowder Plot in 1605. He and a group of men tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London and kill King James I. They wanted to change the government.

The plot was discovered, and Guy Fawkes was arrested. Since then, people in Britain have celebrated the 5th of November with bonfires and fireworks. This day is called Bonfire Night or Guy Fawkes’ Night.
