Stone monuments in Russia

We can see huge stones in many parts of Russia, for example, in Karelia and on the Kola Peninsula. One of the most famous stone monuments is the Stone Labyrinths near the White Sea.

These stones are very large and heavy. They often look like circles, spirals or long rows of stones placed on the ground.

Scientists cannot say exactly who built these stone monuments. Most of them were made many centuries ago by ancient people.

There are different theories about how people used them in the past. Some scientists think they were used for religious ceremonies. Others believe they were connected with the Sun, the Moon or with ancient calendars. Some people also think they were used as burial places or as signs for travellers.

So, these huge stones are still a mystery, and scientists continue to study them.
