Russian and British schools are similar in some ways and different in others.

1. The age children start studying: in both countries children usually start school at the age of 6 or 7.
2. The school year: in Russia the school year starts on the 1st of September; in Britain it starts in September too, but not on the same day.
3. School holidays: Russian schoolchildren have long summer holidays and short holidays during the school year; British schoolchildren also have holidays, but they are arranged differently.
4. A school uniform: in Britain many schools have a school uniform; in Russia some schools also have one, but not all.
5. School subjects: many subjects are the same in both countries, for example English, Maths, History and Geography.
