The UK consists of four countries: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The capitals of these countries are London, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast.

The national symbols are:

• Scotland — the thistle
• Wales — the daffodil
• Northern Ireland — the shamrock

The UK is an island country. It is situated on the British Isles. The climate is usually mild and wet, with a lot of rain and fog.

The official language of the UK is English.
