As a group, you are going to give a presentation for your British pen friends who are planning a tour to Russia. Work in groups of 3—4 to complete these steps.
Step 1
Discuss what places of interest in Russia you’d like to show to your British pen friends. Follow this plan
1. Places of interest in Russia.
2. Some historical facts and geography.
3. Customs and traditions, Russian food.
4. Anything else…
Step 2
— Choose the most interesting topics to include into your presentation.
— Find out more about your chosen topics. Use the Internet, books, magazines and newspapers.
— Write a brief text for each topic.
— Find some pictures and photos to illustrate your topics.
— Design a plan of the tour including the arrival of your pen friends in Russia.
Step 3
— Decide on the number of slides for the presentation.
— Create a design for each slide in the presentation using your photos and pictures.
— Write captions for each slide. Include the most interesting facts and details.
Step 4
Invite your classmates to your presentation. Imagine that they are your British pen friends. Give your group’s presentation to your classmates.
As a class, discuss all the presentations and choose the best ones. Put the best presentation / presentations on your school website for any foreign guests that are planning a visit to Russia.

Welcome to Russia! We are happy to show you some of the most interesting places in our country.

1. Moscow
Moscow is the capital of Russia. It is a very old and beautiful city. The Kremlin and Red Square are the most famous places there. Many tourists visit them every year.

2. Saint Petersburg
Saint Petersburg is one of the most beautiful cities in Russia. It was founded by Peter the Great. The city is famous for its palaces, bridges and museums, especially the Hermitage.

3. Russian traditions and food
Russians like celebrating holidays with family and friends. Traditional Russian food includes borscht, pelmeni, blini and pies. Tea drinking is also an important part of Russian culture.

4. Lake Baikal
Lake Baikal is the deepest and one of the cleanest lakes in the world. It is located in Siberia. Many people come here to enjoy nature and fresh air.
