1) Before cooking lunch, Paddington and Mrs Brown are talking about eggs, potatoes, milk, onions, meat, salt and sugar.

2) They have got enough eggs, milk, onions and salt. Mrs Brown says: “We’ve got a few eggs and it is enough.” / “There is a little milk and it’s enough.” / “We’ve got a lot of onions.” / “We’ve got a lot of salt.”

3) They have not got enough potatoes, meat and sugar. Mrs Brown says: “We’ve got few potatoes and it’s not enough.” / “There is little meat, I’m afraid. There’s little meat and it’s not enough, I think.” / “We’ve got a lot of salt but not much sugar.”

4) A few and a little mean “some, enough”.
Few and little mean “not enough”.
A few is used with countable nouns, a little — with uncountable nouns.
