1) Jane says that her relatives are very different from each other: some are tall, some are short, some are fat, some are thin, and they have different hair and eye colours.

2) Jane compares her relatives using comparative adjectives, for example: taller than, shorter than, fatter than, thinner than, older than, younger than.

3) The rule: we use the comparative form of adjectives to compare two people or things.

4) Jane, Kate and Bill look different. Jane is a girl, Kate is also a girl, and Bill is a boy. They have different heights, builds and hair colours.
