Schools in Russia are usually large and well-organised. Children start school at the age of seven and study there for eleven years. The school year begins in September and ends in May.
In Russian schools pupils study many subjects, such as Russian, Maths, English, History, Geography, Science, Art, Music and PE. They usually have lessons from Monday to Friday, and sometimes on Saturday too.
Most schools have a canteen, a library, a gym and computer rooms. Pupils wear a school uniform in many schools. They also take part in different school events, competitions and concerts.
Russian schools help children get a good education and learn to work hard, be responsible and make friends.
