Museum Guide: Good afternoon, ladiesand gentlemen! Welcome to the Sherlock Holmes Museum! According to the stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes and Doctor John H. Watson lived in this building at 221В Baker Street between 1881 and 1904. In 1990 the Sherlock Holmes Museum opened in this building.
This museum is unique in many ways. First, it’s a museum about a fictional character. Sherlock Holmes is not a real person. Second, as you can see — very little here is locked in glass cases. You can leaf through the books Sherlock Holmes read, you can sit in his armchair, you can put on his hat. But we don’t allow anyone to smoke his pipe… It’s interesting to note that Holmes appears in 54 short stories and 4 novels by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Now step back in time into the 19th century world of Sherlock Holmes. This is his famous study. Over there, you can see his magnifying glass and his violin. Now we are going to the second floor, to Doctor Watson’s bedroom…

Well-known Russian actor Vasiliy Livanov is considered one of the best. In 2006 he was awarded the Order of the British Empire for his excellent performance.
