1. Listen to the tape and decide what holidays they are.

   A. People in England celebrate this holiday in autumn. In the country when it gets dark they go out and often make big bonfires. In towns and cities they go out into the streets and watch beautiful fireworks. People enjoy celebrating this day with their friends and families.

   B. This is a world-famous holiday. People celebrate it in many countries. We celebrate it in Russia too. It is a spring holiday. This holiday always means new life after winter, flowers and green trees. People celebrate Christ’s return to life and victory over death. In England children get presents of chocolate eggs. In Russian families they make cakes and paint eggs. On this day many people go to church.

   C. It is a winter holiday. On this day people buy presents for those whom they love and often write to them and send them special greeting cards. They usually don’t write their names at the end of these cards. Sometimes the postcards have red roses or other symbols of love.
