On 3rd September 1666 a fire started in the city of London. It destroyed 80% of the city but few people died. In fact the fire helped the people who were living in London then. It killed a lot of rats.
The fire started in the house and shop of Thomas Farynor who was a baker to King Charles II. Thomas got up at 1 a.m. on the 3rd September and saw that his house was on fire. His family got out of the house through the roof.
